We had a wonderful time at the wedding — thank you, everyone! I hope you had fun, too. Here are some of our photos from the day, thanks to our amazing photographer Michael Durr (with help from Cal Engel). You … Continue reading

For you out-of-towners

We know some of you have been asking for hotel info, so here you go:

We’re staying at the W Chicago Lakeshore for the weekend of our wedding. It’s nearby our space and relatively inexpensive for a Chicago hotel. We’d have loved to be able to have rooms reserved for everyone who will be needing one, but alas not that many people are coming in. So if you’d like to join us at the W please book as soon as you can so we can all hang out and get ready together!

Can’t wait to see you all!

We’re outta here!

No, not just yet. But we did just book our honeymoon! I won’t say where we’re going, but it’s somewhere in the Caribbean, and it takes 11 hours to get there, so we’ll be pretty much off the grid. We’re very excited though, one more thing to look forward to now that we’re dealing with crunch time. 9 weeks and counting!

Catching up

It’s been a little while since we posted, and there are a few things to catch up on.

Eric got his engagement ring!  We also took pictures of our venue (and bought a car!).  More details soon…

We picked a place!

We put down a deposit the other day for a place called Wabansia Warehouse.  Yes, it’s a warehouse, and yes, it’s on Wabansia.  It’s actually more likely an old factory, but it has three floors, a great view of the city, and it’s affordable!  We’d been looking for loft-style spaces because their character is much more “us” than, say, a country club or hotel.  This was only the third place we looked at, but had a feeling we would fall in love with it, and we did!  Now we just have to find a way to utilize/decorate three whole floors!  Yikes!

Wedding planning abyss

This is really exciting for us, to make things “official” after so many years together.

It’s also kind of unreal to start planning this big event — spending all this time, effort, and money on something that lasts less than a day.  So we’re starting this blog to help us remember the upcoming year better (and so we only have to answer everyone’s questions once, haha).

So feel free to follow along as we dive into the wedding-planning abyss, and hopefully we can cut through the absurdity and stress and find the fun in it.
